TAEC Museum Shop

When visiting TAEC, be sure to stop at the TAEC Museum Shop. It stocks original village-made handicrafts produced by ethnic minority artisans through our livelihoods development program. Rural producers create a wonderful variety of handcrafted textiles, clothing, toys, and accessories using their traditional skills and natural materials, including handspun and naturally dyed cottons, silks, hemp, bamboo, wild vine and even banana fibre.

The Shop operates according to fair-trade principles, meaning that the producer retains an average of 50% of the sale price, and TAEC provides loans, training and market information to its artisans. Currently, the TAEC Museum Shop supports over 600 village producers in 12 provinces in Laos, providing them with training, small loans, design advice and fair prices. The TAEC Museum Shop also stocks a range of books, CDs and postcards, as well as archival quality prints of images featured in our exhibits, by documentary photographer Kees Sprengers.
