Hmong Wind Instrument-Making Activity
Join us for this unique, hands-on experience with a professional Hmong musician and master instrument-maker, Mr. Neng Chue Vang. Together you will craft a Hmong wind instrument called a raj lev les (pronounced ja lei lei). This reed instrument is made from bamboo and composed of six holes. The particularity of this instrument is it’s “idioglottal”, meaning the vibrating reed is a tongue cut and shaped on the bamboo itself. The TAEC team will then teach you how to play your newly made instrument!
A one-of-kind experience and a priceless souvenir of your time in Luang Prabang.
