Akha: The Diversity of An Ethnic Group demonstrates the subtle differences between three sub-groups of the Akha people – the Luma, Akha Nuqui, and Akha Pouly Nyai.

Traditionally inhabiting the remote highland areas of northern Laos, Akha traditional clothing consists of heavy indigo-dyed cotton adorned with appliqué and embroidery work.

Akha women are particularly well-known for their silver headdresses, which indicate marital status and geographic and ethnic affiliation. On display is a stunning headdress made from over 300 pieces of Indochinese era silver.
